Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate in Biology & Biological Engineering
Profile
Education: BSc. Adv Hons., Monash University, conferred 2011 PhD, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute/Melbourne University, conferred 2018
Research Summary: The role of the protein Bcl11b in regulating fate choices of developing and mature T cells
Biosketch: Tom completed his undergraduate degree at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, majoring in immunology and microbiology. His honors year focused on the role of NFκB protein c-Rel in regulatory T cell development. Tom undertook his PhD at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, focusing on the role of Bach2 in T cell development and effector differentiation. Tom currently heads the Rothenberg laboratory's research project elucidating the myriad ways in which the transcription factor Bcl11b regulates T cell fate determination in and outside the thymus.
